Fernanda is originally from Brazil and is interested in understanding fundamental bacterial biology and metabolism. In particular, to study how mycobacteria evolve and have evolved to become successful human pathogens. In addition, how these bacteria have adapted to resist antibiotic treatment and how we can find alternatives to tackle the antibiotic resistance crisis. In her free time, she likes to spend time with friends and family, knit and play the piano and guitar.
